https://proceedings.uinbukittinggi.ac.id/gic/article/view/799

The decline in Indonesia's macroeconomic performance in 2025 is largely attributed to the indirect effects of the global economic crisis. This downturn has led to significant shifts in public financial behavior, with individuals becoming more cautious and adopting defensive financial strategies to maintain balance in their economic lives. This study aims to explore the interrelationship between the global economic crisis and public financial behavior by analyzing economic indicators that reflect Indonesia’s economic decline in 2025. From a financial economics perspective, the study further proposes strategic approaches for individuals to remain financially resilient during periods of economic hardship. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, this research examines selected academic sources and empirical data to gain a deeper understanding of how global crises influence household financial decisions. The findings highlight several key macroeconomic challenges in 2025 that are closely linked to the global crisis, including slowing economic growth, rising unemployment and poverty rates, increasing corruption, geopolitical instability, deindustrialization, and a notable decline in both domestic and foreign investment. Based on a comprehensive review of the literature and current financial conditions, this study offers practical recommendations for financial survival in this challenging economic environment. These include: managing money wisely, increasing investment and passive income, avoiding FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), leveraging opportunities in the digital and Gig economies, and adopting frugal and simple living as a long-term financial lifestyle. These strategies serve not only to protect financial stability but also to strengthen individual resilience in navigating economic uncertainty.
Hesi Eka PuteriAbdul HalimNiyara ArindaMuthia Rahman

2025-09-272025-09-273114Analyzing Consumer Payment Preferences: QRIS vs. Traditional Banking Services
https://proceedings.uinbukittinggi.ac.id/gic/article/view/842

This study analyzes consumer payment preferences in Indonesia, specifically the comparison between QRIS and traditional banking services, in the context of the rapid transformation of the digital payment landscape. Using a quantitative approach through a consumer survey, the study identifies the determinants behind their choice of payment method. The results indicate a hybrid payment strategy: QRIS is very dominant for small to medium value transactions due to its superior convenience and transaction speed, while traditional banking services remain the main choice for large value transactions due to higher perceived security and trust. Transaction cost factors also influence preferences, with QRIS often offering savings, although the effect is not as large as other factors. Furthermore, demographic and psychological analysis reveals that young age and high digital literacy are positively correlated with QRIS preferences, while social influences also drive adoption. This study underscores that consumer payment preferences are complex multifactorial phenomena, influenced by a combination of technological efficiency, security assurance, and individual characteristics and social environment. These findings provide strategic implications for payment service providers and regulators in designing inclusive products, policies, and education programs to drive the digitalization of the Indonesian economy.
Pujy Yonesha

https://proceedings.uinbukittinggi.ac.id/gic/article/view/847

This study offers Critical Perspectives on Maqashid al-Shariah in Modern Financial Systems, delving into the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Islamic legal objectives within contemporary finance. It examines how the traditional framework of Maqashid al-Shariah, encompassing the preservation of faith, life, intellect, progeny, and wealth, is interpreted and applied to guide the development and operation of Islamic financial products and institutions. The research critiques existing approaches, highlighting challenges such as the potential for formalistic interpretations that may deviate from the spirit of Maqashid, the complexities of adapting immutable principles to rapidly evolving financial innovations, and the tension between ethical ideals and market realities. It also explores opportunities for Maqashid-oriented finance to offer more equitable, sustainable, and socially responsible alternatives to conventional models, emphasizing areas like inclusive finance, ethical investments, and risk-sharing mechanisms. Ultimately, this abstract underscores the ongoing need for dynamic ijtihad and rigorous re-evaluation to ensure that modern Islamic finance genuinely embodies and effectively serves the holistic objectives of Shariah.
Mutia Febrina SariFerdi Prayoga

https://proceedings.uinbukittinggi.ac.id/gic/article/view/855

This research evaluates the dynamics of user adoption and merchant acceptance within Indonesia's digital payment landscape, comparing QRIS and e-wallets. Through a comprehensive literature review, we examine the driving factors behind e-wallet adoption, dominated by financial incentives and ecosystem integration, as well as QRIS adoption, propelled by Bank Indonesia's interoperability standards. The analysis also covers challenges faced by merchants due to e-wallet fragmentation and how QRIS addresses this with its "one QR for all" concept, despite persistent obstacles like varying digital literacy and uneven infrastructure. The findings indicate that QRIS and e-wallets are complementary: e-wallets attract users with features and incentives, while QRIS facilitates merchants with operational efficiency. This synergy significantly enhances MSME financial inclusion through improved transaction recording for better financing access, simultaneously boosting business efficiency and competitiveness. It's concluded that both systems are crucial pillars for the advancement of a more inclusive and efficient digital economy in Indonesia.
Haanii Haritsa YuzenPujy YoneshaFanisa SusenoHesi Eka Puteri

https://proceedings.uinbukittinggi.ac.id/gic/article/view/858

This research aims to analyze the impact of moral crisis on consumeristic culture and the economic behavior of the younger generation, with consumeristic culture serving as a mediating variable. Employing a literature review method, this study identifies and synthesizes various relevant literatures from the disciplines of sociology, economics, and psychology. The synthesis results indicate that a moral crisis, characterized by a shift in values towards materialism, hedonism, pragmatism, and instant gratification, has a significant positive influence on the rise of consumeristic culture among the younger generation. Subsequently, this consumeristic culture significantly negatively impacts economic behavior, manifesting as excessive spending, low saving habits, increased consumer debt, and a lack of long-term financial planning. It was also found that a moral crisis has a direct negative influence on economic behavior through the erosion of financial ethics and indifference towards long-term consequences. Thus, consumeristic culture acts as a crucial mediator, indicating that a moral crisis exacerbates the economic behavior of the younger generation not only directly but also indirectly by fueling consumerism. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of re-strengthening moral and ethical values, as well as value-based financial literacy, as strategic efforts to cultivate wiser and more responsible economic behavior in the younger generation.
Kiki Razroma YantikaRiski MurdaniAdri

https://proceedings.uinbukittinggi.ac.id/gic/article/view/848

In digitally networked societies, interfaith discourse increasingly unfolds in informal, algorithm-driven platforms such as YouTube, reshaping traditional modes of religious engagement. This study explores how Qur’anic ethical values ta’aruf (mutual recognition), tasamuh (tolerance), rahmah (compassion), and ‘adl (justice) are embodied in the Login YouTube podcast, a widely viewed Indonesian talk show featuring cross-religious dialogue. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the research draws on one representative episode where six religious leaders (Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Hindu, and Confucian) engage in dialogical conversations about faith, identity, and pluralism. Transcripts were thematically coded, and verbal as well as non-verbal cues were analyzed to assess emotional tone, inclusivity, and ethical coherence. Findings indicate that the discourse was marked by emotional resonance, reciprocal listening, and the absence of provocation or doctrinal contestation. Each speaker expressed faith-based values in ways that affirmed plural coexistence and shared humanity. The study contributes to both Qur’anic ethics and digital media scholarship by demonstrating how lived theology can emerge within popular culture formats. It argues that platforms like Login do not merely reflect religious tolerance but actively perform it, offering a model for ethical, inclusive digital da‘wah.
Muhammad Pajri ZullianDevina NovelaAisyah NurRahma Dona
