Abstract

This literature review aims to analyse findings from various articles, journals, and previous research proceedings on using audio-visual media for teaching English vocabulary related to tourism and hospitality. This study addresses the effectiveness of audio-visual aids in enhancing vocabulary acquisition among students in these specialised fields. Using a qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach, we identified, categorised, and explored accredited research to extract key insights and trends in the field. Our findings indicate that audio-visual media facilitates vocabulary retention and comprehension and enhances learner engagement and contextual understanding, particularly with terms specific to tourism and hotel environments. This review contributes to the field by offering insights into best practices for language educators and suggesting future research directions in utilising media tools for industry-specific language training.
